The XTension SpeedOpen adds the following functions to QuarkXPress:
• You can choose, whether all documents should be opened with their own settings or with those contained in the XPress preferences file. This avoids the QuarkXPress dialog indicating differences between document settings and XPress preferences.
• SpeedOpen is able to automatically enable or disable the "Greek pictures" settings. This lets you open documents more quickly, because you don't have to wait for the display of the pictures. This feature is also helpful in cases where the picture data contained in the document is damaged, such that display of the pictures causes system errors.
• SpeedOpen is able to automatically set the view size when a document is opened. For example, you can open all documents in "Fit in Window" view, no matter in what scale they were last saved.
• SpeedOpen is able to display a warning when you use a new version of QuarkXPress to open documents or libraries that have been last saved by an older version. Once you save such a document or library with the new version, it can not be opened in the older version anymore.
• SpeedOpen lets you modify the language attribute of a document. You can use this feature to set the language of a document created by a different international version of QuarkXPress to the language of your QuarkXPress version. This avoids the warning about missing hyphenation when opening the document. Conversely, you can set a document that you've created to a different language and thus prepare it for use with different international versions of QuarkXPress.
2. How to register SpeedOpen 2.0
-----------------------------
SpeedOpen 2.0 is Shareware. You may use and test it for 30 days for free. After that time, you have to register your copy of SpeedOpen if you want to continue to use it.
With your registration, you directly support the development of future versions of SpeedOpen. The price for the registration is
Single-User license: US$ 35,-
Multi-User license:
US$ 35,- for the first user,
US$ 7,- for the second to fifteenth user,
US$ 1,- for all remaining users.
A 10 user license, for example, sums up to US$ 98,-, a 20 user license costs US$ 138,-.
There are two ways to become a registered user of SpeedOpen:

If you send a check, please note the following remarks, according to your location.
• European countries: if available, please send an Eurocheque issued in DM (Deutsche Mark). If no Eurocheques are available, please send a bank check issued in your country's currency. Please convert the US$-prices given above to DM or to your local currency using the current exchange ratios.
If your country is a member of the EC (European community) and if you have a VAT-ID number, please specify this number in your registration.
• Non-European countries: please specify the amount in your country's currency. If necessary, convert the US$-prices given above using the current exchange ratios.
b) If you have access to CompuServe you can register through CompuServe's shareware registration service (GO SWREG). The registration id for SpeedOpen is 2757. This method can be used for single-user licenses only.
3. Shareware license agreement
-----------------------------
SpeedOpen 2.0 is Shareware. You may use and test it for 30 days for free. After that time, you have to register your copy of SpeedOpen if you want to continue to use it.
You may copy and distribute the unregistered version of SpeedOpen as long as you do not change, add or remove parts of the program, and as long as you don't charge any fee for the distribution.
A registered copy of SpeedOpen may be copied for archiving and data security purposes only. The number of copies of the registered version that may be used simultaneously is limited according to your Shareware license.

5. About version 2.0.3 of SpeedOpen
--------------------------------
This version contains only minor changes to version 2.0. These changes include:
- New feature to set the view size when a document is opened.
- The hyphenation language popup menu now contains all (non-asian) languages for which localized version of QuarkXPress are available.
- Instead of a single bi-lingual version of SpeedOpen there's now an english and a german one.
- Minor changes to the user interface and small bug fixes.
Serial numbers for previous versions of SpeedOpen are still valid for this version. However, they have to be reentered when the new version is installed.
